Here are the 2  Scariest true Craigslist Horror Stories:

First Scary Story:

1: I wanted a small house in a quiet place with some kind of store nearby, but it should be about 2 miles away. I needed the house for 2 weeks, and of course, it must have Wi-Fi. I found a house in Wales on Anglesey Island. It had a big area of land, 20 acres, and even had its own private beach and cove.

I messaged the person who rented it out on Airbnb. They said I could stay there in just 2 days, so I paid the rent and then started getting all my stuff ready and putting it in the car. It took about 5 hours to drive from London to the cottage. The cottage was really isolated, just like they said.

In the last 10 minutes of the trip, I didn't see any other houses or cars. The driveway led to a beautiful cottage with a garage beside it. It had a wonderful view of the sea at the end of the garden. I parked in front and took all my stuff inside.

There was a friendly note from the owner, Mr. Jones, saying, "I've left some milk, butter, and eggs in the fridge along with some homemade Welsh cakes for you to try. If you need anything or have any questions, just give me a call. You'll find my number stuck to the fridge with a magnet." I unpacked and selected the bedroom with a view of the sea.

Then I went downstairs, made myself a coffee, and tried some of the Welsh cakes, sitting in the living room. I looked out the window at the lovely hills, trees, and coastline. It was exactly what I needed. As a bit of background about myself, I am an author with more than 25 crime novels. However, at the moment, I am facing the worst writer's block of my career.

My agent was getting really mad. He said we couldn't keep missing the deadlines for the book. It had been 3 months now. That's why I booked this Airbnb specifically for my writing. I enjoy going to special places because it helps clear my mind. I was in the middle of writing my latest mystery novel when I suddenly got stuck and couldn't write anything.

The first night, I slept really well. I opened the bedroom curtains and saw the garden with a beautiful view of the sea. Surprisingly, the sun was shining even in Wales. I made myself a bacon sandwich, drank some fresh orange juice, and had a coffee.

I spent the next few hours on my novel, adding and deleting different ideas in the manuscript. Feeling like I needed a break, I decided to take a walk. I followed the path in the garden and then across the next field to reach the private beach. I sat down and looked around, then out to sea. The only boat I saw seemed to be anchored quite far out to the left side of the cove.

I used my binoculars, which I had grabbed from the back door before leaving. I looked over the entire boat, but I couldn't see anyone on board. The windows were tinted, and it looked like it was about 60 ft long. From the positions of the side windows, I could tell it had two lower decks. I walked around the entire cove, then went back up to the house.

When I got near the back of the house, I noticed that the back door was slightly open. I remember closing it before, but I wasn't completely sure. I thought it was best to be careful. As I went back inside, I checked every room to make sure they were empty, which they were, thankfully.

So, I figured I must not have closed the door properly. I made myself a coffee and sat in the living room, looking out at the garden. That's when I noticed something strange. In the room where I was sitting, there was an ashtray on the windowsill and a blue mug. It gave me chills. Someone had been here while I was out.

They had made themselves a drink, smoked, and been watching out the window towards the beach. Was it the owner? Why would he come while I'm staying here? After that, I checked all my stuff, my laptops, and valuable items, but they all seemed fine, still in their bags.

What's more confusing is that there's no sign that someone was looking for valuables in the house. So, I decided to call the owner just to see if it was him who came by for some reason. But I tried many times, and no one answered.

Then I stopped and decided to try again in the morning. It was already 8:00 at night when I finished dinner. But before going to bed, I checked all the windows and doors to make sure they were locked. Also, I decided to leave the porch light on all night. Then I went to bed, but I couldn't stop thinking about what happened. At 2:00 a.m.,

I woke up to use the bathroom. As I passed by the bedroom window, I noticed a slight flicker outside. I could see two lights moving around down by the cove. For some crazy reason, I decided to be brave or maybe just reckless and go out to investigate. This was private property, so whoever was there had no reason to be.

But I decided not to use the flashlight in case the people down there saw me coming. As I got closer, I saw the fancy yacht I had seen before through my binoculars. It was now anchored in the cove, and there was only one dim light at the back of the boat. Then I heard people talking in a language I didn't understand. I saw four people wearing head torches.

They were next to a boat. There were four more small boats and what looked like seven speedboats. It looked like one of those big ones worth maybe 7 to 10 million. This seemed to be some kind of private cove for millionaires. But I'm pretty sure the guy who owns the cottage,

the Airbnb host, also owns this. At this point, I was calling him over and over, but it seemed like he had turned his phone off. And I was worried these people might come back to the cottage. I was almost sure that someone had been in the cottage during the day, had a drink, and smoked using the ashtray, as I'm crouching down looking at these people and trying to figure out what they're doing. Suddenly,

an entire SWAT team is running behind me. They're pointing their weapons at me and telling me to put my hands up and lie flat on the ground. I see that the people down on the beach have noticed that the police are here, so they start rushing like crazy to get back on the yacht.

The police uncovered a huge secret operation. It was an undercover operation involving $5 million worth of stolen items. And they thought I was also somehow part of it all. The Coast Guard had warned the SWAT team that the people on the yacht might be armed.

They had been using the cove as a meeting spot all this time. It was really hidden and private. Well, it sure was because I hadn't seen anyone around for miles during my entire stay there.

So, it turned out to be the perfect spot for those people. But their good luck came to an end. A lot of my friends and family say this should be the perfect inspiration for my next book.

But when I told the owner, he couldn't believe what was going on. Except when I asked him to come down to meet me early that morning, he had a suspicious grin and smirk on his face. But he claimed he had no idea what was going on, even though it was happening on his land.

Second Scary Story:

2: When my son was younger, he grew very fast and became too big for his bicycle. My husband and I only had one child, so everything we bought for him could only be used one time. It cost a lot of money to buy things because he would outgrow them quickly, sometimes in less than a year.

That's why we often used Craigslist to get some of those things that he would only use for a short time. We used Craigslist a lot for buying baby clothes and other stuff when he was little. So, when he got too big for his old bike, it made sense to look there for a new one.

Then one day, I checked the ads. There were some good ones, but they were too expensive. Some people think they can sell things online for the same price they paid, which doesn't make much sense. So, I kept looking and I found a red mountain bike that was almost the right size.

It was a bit big, but I thought my son could use it as he grows. The price was good too, the seller only wanted $100, which was much less than half of what it originally cost. I contacted the seller, Shelly, and she replied within an hour.

We agreed on a time to pick up the bike, and she gave me her address. The house was in the next town over, about a 45-minute drive for me. When the time came, I set off. However, I went alone, even though I realized I should have taken my husband. The neighborhood was old,

some houses had boarded up windows, and the streets were almost empty. It felt strange because my neighborhood is lively and friendly; this place seemed deserted. The house looked rundown, but there was a pickup truck in the driveway.

This made me feel a bit better because I knew someone was home. I parked my car on the street in front of the house and walked up to the front door. I pressed the doorbell, but it didn't seem to work. I tried again and then pressed my ear against the door. The doorbell was definitely broken.

Just when I was about to leave the door open, an older man greeted me with a friendly smile. He said he was Shelly's husband. He was tall but didn't seem scary. He held a cane in his right hand, probably because he had difficulty walking. He said the bike was in the shed at the back and asked me to meet him there. I might sound a bit too trusting, but the man seemed really nice.

We walked toward the small shed at the back of his property, which had a tall wooden fence around it. As we approached, I noticed some movement inside the shed. Someone was in there; I could see it through the dirty window next to the door. I felt scared inside, but I didn't want to show it. That's when I saw two more men standing in the yard, blocking my way back to my car. I was surrounded. My instincts told me to run, so I ran away.

I didn't know where to go, but when I reached the fence, I climbed over it and kept running. I found myself in the woods. I kept walking without looking back. Finally, I made it back to the road and called the police. We went back to the house together, but the men had already left. I told the police what happened, but they never caught the men. I don't even want to think about what those men were going to do. The best thing that could have happened was they wanted to steal from me.

But even if that was their plan, they knew I probably only had $100 for the bike. It doesn't seem like it would have been worth it. I was coming back from Connecticut and had to wait for 3 hours in New York City. It was my first time going so far from home, so I felt really stressed. New York City was just like I thought it would be—old and messy. The train station I was at was dirty and full of people.

I had some time to wait, so I went outside to see the streets. I stood there, looking like someone who was new to the city, when two guys came up to me. But they were a bit weird, and it made me nervous to talk to strangers in a big city like this, so I ignored them and bought a hot dog from a street vendor. I decided to wait in the Amtrak waiting area for my train, and it seemed like a good spot to sit. So, I found a chair towards the back of the room.

I made sure to position myself with my back against the wall. I noticed a young woman sitting on the floor with her son, who was happily playing with Legos. The boy, who looked to be about 5 or 6 years old, was wearing a pair of Iron Man pajamas. I'm always very watchful around kids, even if I don't know them. I've heard too many stories and watched too many true crime videos on social media. I was looking around the room when I saw an old man enter the waiting area.

He wore a black trench coat, and something about him made me feel uneasy. My gut instinct told me to watch him closely. I didn't like the hot dog I bought, so I stood up to throw it away. While I was doing that, there was an announcement on the intercom advising people to report anything suspicious to the authorities. It felt ironic.

When I sat back down, I saw the man taking out a camera. Now, you might think he was just looking at photos from a trip or something, but if that had been true, I wouldn't be sharing this story. The man was sitting facing forward, but he had his camera angled to the side, pointing it right at the little boy. "Ma'am, that man over there is taking pictures of your son," she thanked me for noticing. I just nodded and told her again to watch her son.

Then, I stood up and found a police officer. I told him what I saw. The officer went to the old man and told him to give the camera for inspection. But what he found sent chills down my spine. The officer discovered not only photos of that kid but also of other teenage boys and girls.

When the officer asked why he was taking those photos, he didn't give an answer. And he tried to run away. But because of his age, they caught him easily. I don't know what his intention was for taking pictures of those children, but I'm sure it wasn't good.
